
聽(Friedman鈥檚), a locally-owned home improvement, hardware, lumber and building materials retailer serving the North聽Bay and North Coast, hosted its 30th Annual Charity Golf Tournament benefiting local nonprofit聽聽this month. This year鈥檚 milestone event raised $140,000 to benefit Sonoma County schools.

Schools Plus plays a critical role in funding enrichment programs鈥攕uch as sports, drama, music and the arts鈥攆or students in the Santa Rosa City Schools District. These programs often fall outside standard curriculum budgets but are vital for creating well-rounded educational experiences.

As someone who has served in this district for 26 years, I鈥檝e had the privilege of watching the Schools Plus vision grow from an ambitious idea into a powerhouse of community support. Their tireless efforts, particularly through the annual golf tournament, have directly benefited students across the district. At Piner alone, we鈥檝e received more than $100,000 to support our athletics and visual and performing arts programs. Schools Plus truly carried us through the lean years and continues to stand by our students and programs without hesitation.鈥
