Lumber King President John Kayae to retire

(Lumber King)

After more than a decade, Kentucky-based Lumber King’s President John Kayae is set to retire. The company shared the announcement via social media:

“It is with heartfelt thanks and appreciation that we announce the retirement of our President, John Kayae, after 13 years of excellent company leadership.

In his own words of reflection about his time at Lumber King, John says, ‘Lumber King’s accomplishments over the last thirteen years aren’t about me, but reflect the energy and effort put forward by our employees, the owners. It’s all about people. The employees not only welcomed the stranger from Texas, but accepted my vision of the future and worked to reshape and reposition our sales. By starting an outside sales team, our market area has expanded from Lexington to Knoxville, creating new opportunities for the company and its employees. This has led to higher sales, and allowed the company to make improvements that have helped create even more sales. Our growth has made Lumber King more secure; that is important to any company, but especially an ESOP. Lumber King is now better positioned for the future, and that would have been impossible without the dedication of the people I’ve had the honor of working with. Thank you for the experience.’

John came to the helm in July of 2012, and has brought about much positive growth in his time with the company, leaving a lasting impact on staff and customers. We’ve been blessed to have him as our President, and wish him nothing but the best in his next venture! He and his wife, Sharon, are planning on celebrating with some cruises and sightseeing, and John intends on staying connected to the industry in the years to come.”
