YellaWood donates $10K to charity chosen by Five-Star Hero contest winner

, a manufacturer of pressure treated lumber, honored Marshall Plants from Rome, GA, as the winner of its inaugural 聽during the YellaWood 500 at Talladega Superspeedway on Oct. 6. As part of the winnings, YellaWood donated $10,000 to a charity of Plants鈥 choosing. Plants designated the funds to聽, a global charity that provides spiritual and physical aid to those in need, particularly in the wake of disasters.

鈥淚 chose Samaritan鈥檚 Purse because of the immense impact they have in helping others when disaster strikes,鈥 Plants said. 鈥淭hey鈥檙e always there for people in need, and I鈥檓 grateful to support such a meaningful cause.鈥

Plants was named Five-Star Hero for his remarkable courage in saving his sister from a fiery car accident in 1968. The contest honored ordinary individuals doing extraordinary things and encouraged fans to nominate their unsung heroes for the chance to win a VIP experience at the YellaWood 500. Along with the charity donation, Plants and his nominator, sister Anita Sealock, received a VIP experience featuring suite tickets, hot laps, VIP garage tours, and Plants waving the green flag as the race鈥檚 honorary starter.
