When Hurricane Gilbert, a category five hurricane, struck Jamaica in 1988, the damage to the land and infrastructure of the island was cataphoric. Always putting others before himself, Floyd Yoder of聽, felt a call help those affected by the tragedy. This moment sparked the founding of Jamaican Relief Ministries (JRM). Today, Yoder鈥檚 Building Services continues this mission to uplift communities and improve the lives of children in the Montego Bay area by building homes, supporting a local preschool, and reuniting families.

LMC interviewed 聽Mariah Hughes, granddaughter of founder Floyd Yoder, and Senior VP of Culture to speak on the great work Yoder鈥檚 has done and continues to do through JRM. Having even lived in Jamaica for some time, Mariah shares what truly has changed lives of both those in the YBS community and those in Montego Bay.
